What Does a Whole-Home Rewire Include?

We pull out all the old wiring, install new copper Romex throughout the entire house, put in a new 200-amp panel if needed, add grounded outlets everywhere, and bring the whole system up to current NEC code. We add GFCI protection in bathrooms, kitchens, garages, and outdoor areas. We add arc-fault protection on bedroom circuits. And we make sure you have enough circuits to handle everything you plug in.

Most whole-home rewires take about a week depending on the size of the house. We always pull permits and schedule inspections with the local authority.

How We Work in Older Homes

Rewiring an old house isn’t like wiring new construction. You can’t just rip walls open everywhere. We know how to fish wire through old plaster-and-lath walls, work in balloon-frame construction, and route wiring through attics and basements to minimize the holes we have to make.

When we’re done, you shouldn’t see much evidence we were there besides the new outlets, switches, and panel. We patch our access holes and leave the house clean.

Signs Your Home Needs Rewiring

If you notice any of these, your home may need a full rewire: breakers trip frequently, lights flicker when you turn on appliances, you’re using extension cords everywhere because there aren’t enough outlets, your outlets are the old two-prong ungrounded type, you see cloth-wrapped or knob-and-tube wiring in your attic or basement, or your insurance company is asking about your wiring.
